Jenni Boehm — Transpersonal Art Therapist Sydney

Transpersonal art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art-making and creative expression to explore the deeper dimensions of human experience — including the spiritual, symbolic and unconscious aspects of the Self. It draws on transpersonal psychology to work beyond the rational mind, using the language of imagery to access what words often cannot, and have not reached.

At its heart, transpersonal art therapy sees each person as more than their difficulties. It is a journey of discovery toward your expansive authentic Self — one that honours your wholeness, your capacity for growth and your innate inner wisdom.

Creative Discovery

A Creative Path Beyond
the Thinking Mind

When we create — when we pick up a brush, tear paper, press our hands into clay or let colour move across a page without agenda — something in us begins to speak that does not ordinarily have a voice. The image knows things the mind has not yet found words for.

The focus is entirely on the creative process, never on the finished product. There is no right or wrong way to engage with the materials. Artistic skill or experience is not needed — and often, those who describe themselves as 'not creative' are the ones who find this work most freeing.

The 'transpersonal' dimension means we work with the full spectrum of who you are — including the spiritual, existential and symbolic dimensions. This is not just about managing symptoms. It is about meaning, trusting your intuition, feelings and allowing growth. The expansion of consciousness and the discovery of your deeper, more authentic Self.

What to Expect

What Happens in a Session

Sessions are held in a safe, compassionate and nurturing environment — in my Sydney studio, your choice of place, or online via Zoom. Each session is unique and led entirely by what you bring to it. Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes. All materials are provided in-person.

1
Mindful Arrival

A brief mindful check-in — sometimes breathwork to lower cortisol, a short open or closed-eye meditation or narrated story, bringing you gently to restful contemplation.

2
The Making

We move into art-making using paints, drawing materials, collage, clay or mixed media. No instruction. Simply begin, stay curious and notice what wants to emerge.

3
Reflection

We explore together — not through analysis or judgment, but through your own reflection and sense of meaning. The process is always yours to lead.

4
Integration

We close with what emerged — what to carry forward, what to release, what to simply allow. You leave with something real.

Everything You Need to Know

Transpersonal art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art-making and creative expression to explore the deeper dimensions of human experience — including the spiritual, symbolic and unconscious aspects of the Self. It draws on transpersonal psychology to support healing, growth and expansion of self-awareness beyond the thinking mind alone.
Not at all. Transpersonal art therapy is not about artistic skill or producing a finished product. The entire focus is on the creative process as a pathway to self-discovery. Many people who describe themselves as 'not creative' find this work profoundly opening.
Transpersonal art therapy works with the full spectrum of human experience — including spiritual, existential and symbolic dimensions — rather than focusing solely on behaviour or symptom management. It recognises that healing is also a journey toward meaning, consciousness and the authentic Self.
This is entirely personal and depends on your journey and goals. Some people benefit from 6–10 focused sessions; others are drawn to longer-term work. We discuss this together in your first session and revisit regularly — always led by what feels right for you.
Yes. All sessions are available in person in Sydney or online via Zoom across Australia and globally. I send a simple materials list before your first online session. The depth and quality of the work is equally available through both formats.
